A closer look
inside chateau domingue
Chateau Domingue has established a timeless well of monumental antiques, reclaimed architectural finds, aged flooring, specialty doors, and gates through tenured relationships that continue to serve the foundational spirit of our Houston‑based atelier.
We firmly believes every find has a distinct whisper and inherent poetry that composes its beauty; our practice is to respond to this and share the results with designers, tastemakers, and projects around the world. This attitude informs the Chateau Domingue ethos—the peculiarity that arises from blending and mixing old-world elements into modern settings.
Ruth Gay is the chief curator of Chateau Domingue, a visionary with an unparalleled history of breathing new life into traveled architectural finds.
In her work, she maintains an incredibly sharp sensibility towards architectural design that fuels creative prowess in every client collaboration. What began as a personal quest to build a family home inspired by her colorful European upbringing has evolved into a storied confirmation of artistry and taste, producing culturally shifting projects.
Her sixth sense for pairing product, restoration and preserving an object’s cultural heritage, speak to a conscious, earnestly curious, design enthusiast who tirelessly fortifies her work with an affection for history and the sublime.

"We travel the backroads, the middle of nowhere, this is a huge part of what we do to find those one-of-a-kind relics"
Ruth Gay, Founder
Ruth’s imperial design sensibilities drive our legacy, as the premier importer of architectural elements and monumental antiques. Our products possess a delicate historical essence, and are carefully hand‑selected across Europe, delivering an elevated finish.
Our philosophy activates an invested consideration for the details, reflected in our rigorous selection process and restorative services. Our passionate pursuit for authentic, architectural elements that delicately weigh beauty and history, allows us to cultivate an offering that intersects the past, present and contemporary.
The journey to every object is where our storytelling begins, pursuing the unique and sublime in what has been left behind.
Ruth’s process is highly detailed, time-sensitive, and physical, stemming from care, reverence, and intention—a compass for acquiring culturally authentic products.
Europe is central to our discovery, with sourcing from various points across the continent, including Spain, Italy, Sweden, France, and Belgium.
In every curated find, Ruth uncovers something special and charming—details that remind our clients of our appreciation for history, stories told, and moments lived.
Our continued affection for quality products, restoration, curation, and beauty is expressed in our approach to both selection and transport. After selection is finalized, every find carefully loaded into containers destined for the ports of Houston, Texas. All products are eagerly received at our five-acre property, where crates are unloaded and the products are rigorously inspected by our senior operators for quality control and scope of restorative work.
Our team of highly-skilled artisans are specially trained in the restoration of reclaimed materials. They find the perfect balance between preserving the history and highlighting the beauty of each product.
Chateau Domingue will continue to establish itself as an industry leader, maintaining our commitment to authenticity by offering the finest mix of European architectural elements. Our team will strategically expand our offerings to include more scalable products, such as the introduction of our “Bastide” and “Quarry” collections, underscoring Chateau Domingue’s dedication to giving our clients the ability to dream, envision, and build infinitely.
